We have built a robust alerting system to notify those interested in nearly real-time Seattle 911 dispatch of Fire and Medic calls. From the time of dispatch, the alert you choose (email or SMS text message) is sent typically within 5 minutes. While extremely reliable, this service is ONLY for informational purposes and may not be relied upon. The service may go down at any point and you agree to use it without condition or promise of accuracy.
There is much detail below, but if you want to jump to the form to start monitoring (or to unsubscribe from existing alerts), click here!
There are 4 main ways this system operates:
To subscribe to a temporary 2-hour alert for all calls near your physical address, send an SMS text message with the body "monitor" to 206-535-1676. You will immediately receive a reply back with a unique URL - click on the URL and your mobile phone will pass its GPS location and all calls within 1/4 mile for the next two hours will be sent to you via text message.
To subscribe to a permanent proximity monitor, you must be a paid supporter.
See a full list of all call types by volume. Free users can monitor some of these. Paying supporters can pick any incident type to monitor. Some of the most interesting to monitor are: FIRE IN (reported structure fires) | TRAIN (any type of train incident) | WEAPONS 14 (typically assault call with multiple victims) | RESCUE (typically accidents with extracation) | MCI | MULTIPLE (typically mass casualty or serious incidents) | PIER FIRE | EXPLOSION
To unsubscribe to alerts, simply visit the subscription page, enter your email or phone number where alerts currently go to, and choose the "unsubscribe" option.
